This summer, Drexelbrook Catering & Special Event Center celebrated love! When Mary and Meryl picked a date to tie the knot, they knew what their dream wedding would look like: festive and fun, with over 100 close friends and family on the guest list.

Our team had a blast bringing their vision to life. We’ve hosted many beautiful same-sex weddings at our venue in Drexel Hill, and we were so excited when Mary and Meryl chose our location and services for their big day. Our experts worked with them every step of the way to create the most memorable wedding, from a customized food menu to personalized decor.

The beautiful couple held their wedding ceremony at our Mansion Terrace, and love was in the air.

The festivities began with cocktail hour. Guests had a number of food options in between the Pasta Primo and Cheese & Crudite stations and butlered hors-d’oeuvres. Platters of Lemon Cumin Chicken Meatballs with Hoisin Glaze, Bay Scallops Wrapped in Pepper Bacon and Cucumber Cup with Sweet Chilli Edamame & Roasted Pepper Hummus disappeared before our eyes! Luckily, there was always more food to satisfy everyone’s craving.

The Cheese & Crudite station proved to be especially popular with select cheese from across the country including Warm Rontina Fondue, Smoked Mozzarella and Havarti.

As guests made their way to the Mansion Ballroom, which was decorated with light-blue and ivory accents, they worked up an appetite on the dance floor.

Soon after, they were greeted with plates of Traditional Ceasar with House-made Croutons and Warm Rolls with Butter.

Entrees from our award-winning chefs were next on the table! Options included Atlantic Salmon Pan-Seared with Mustard Maple Glaze or Prime Rib, Roasted Hand-Carved with Horseradish Cream & Chives. Both came with Garlic Mashed Potato and Chefs Choice Seasonal Vegetable.

This was followed up by everyone’s favorite activity: the bouquet and garter toss! As eligible bachelors and bachelorettes jumped to catch their prize, their sweet tooth kicked in.

We brought out a beautiful cake provided by our friends from Sophisticakes. Like the decor, the cake was adorned with light-blue and white details and was truly a masterpiece!

While guests dug into the cake, we opened up the Signature Sundae Bar for the rest of the night. Everyone helped themselves to scoops of Hand-Spun Vanilla & Chocolate Ice Cream & Mango Sorbet. Toppings like Hot Fudge, Whipped Cream and Sprinkles decorated dozens of bowls of ice-cream.

Meryl summed up the experience, “Our wedding night by our account (and ALL others who attended) was EPIC!!”

Everybody danced the rest of the night away – a truly festive ending to Meryl and Mary’s magical wedding!
